Leonardo Girón

Leonardo Girón, President of NSHMBA San Antonio, A recipient of the 2014 Oil & Gas Leadership Excellence Award and a multicultural entrepreneurial Executive, who has over 23 years of international experience in the oil & gas, consulting, non-profit and telecom industry. Specialize in the evaluation of value-creating opportunities, developing supply chain strategy in existing and new markets, and managing mergers & acquisitions, business development projects and partnerships on a global basis. He has a unique ability to forge key relationships, alliances, partnerships and collaboration with industry leaders and government officials. Mr. Giron is a holistic visionary with demonstrated inclusive leadership abilities. His strengths comprise of multiculturalism and outstanding negotiation skills that are helping a fortune 75 Company to compete in the global marketplace while promoting Inclusion and Engagement as Business Strategy to create a high performing culture.

Prior to becoming Sr. Manager, Contract Performance leading the ARCO retail network transition for Tesoro Corporation, he held other positions such as Sr. Manager, Process & Optimization; Strategy Development Manager; Manager of Business Development – Latin America and other positions in the company’s supply and trading operations. He also served as Project Manager at Petróleos de Venezuela, S. A. (PDVSA), and Brand Manager at IBM and Operations Manager at Bellsouth Mobility.

Mr. Giron serves as a member of the Inclusion and Engagement Council for Tesoro Corporation, and represents Tesoro at the Corporate Advisory Board for the National Society of Hispanic MBA. He is the architect of the NSHMBA C-Suite Think Tank initiative, the platform and meeting of the minds to exchange thought provoking ideas between C-suite business leaders embracing inclusion as a business strategy. Moreover, he is the founding member of the Women in Leadership for NSHMBA San Antonio, and creator of the NSHMBA Charity Open.

Mr. Giron holds Bachelor in System Engineering and Master Science in Control Systems from Venezuela both with full ride scholarships. He also graduated from The Executive Master of Business Administration program at the University of Texas at San Antonio with concentration in Leadership.

Mr. Giron was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela by his mother. He worked at newsstands and as swimming coach since he was fifteen years old through his first year of college. He moved to United States fourteen years ago, and now lives with his wife, Daniela and ten-year-old son, Leonardo Daniel, in San Antonio, Texas.
