Karen Mariela Siles is a Delivery Manager at IBM Corporation in Austin. Her current role involves ensuring the delivery of an encryption service for IBM Bluemix. She manages and assists Software Engineers and DevOps Engineers to work together to get this service delivered. Karen has been with IBM since 2007 where she has held over 7 different positions within IBM. Karen was born and raised in Cochabamba, Bolivia; her family migrated to the United States in 1998 and moved to Northern Virginia where she spent a little over 10 years. She graduated from George Mason University with a B.S in Electrical Engineering in 2007. Karen enjoys giving back to the community through various organizations that focus on overall education specifically in the fields of STEM, as well as female empowerment and equality.
Currently Karen serves as the Chair of the Hispanic affinity group of IBM Austin called Hispanics In Partnership (HIP). Karen was recently appointed to serve as the chair of Latinitas Inc, where she has been a board member for over 2 years. As a lifetime member of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), Karen serves as the Fundraising Director for the Austin Professional Chapter. Recently Karen finished a civic engagement program under Las Comadres de Las America- Texas Public Policy and Civic Engagement (TPP-ACE) program. Later this year Karen will serve as the chair for National Academic Committee for SHPE National Inc.
