Licenia Rojas is a Vice President of Technology at American Express, leading Enterprise Big Data Capabilities globally. In this role, Licenia is designing American Express’ overall big data strategy, and is responsible for advancing the core big data platform engineering, as well as the democratization of data and analytics across various business lines through innovative applications and use cases in support of the company’s growth priorities.
In the last 18 years with American Express, Licenia has held many key leadership roles driving significant contributions to innovation at the company. Most notably in 2007 as Chief Architect for Consumer, OPEN, World Service, and Interactive Technology, she led the architecture strategy that laid the foundation to enable the digital strategy of the company. In 2011, Licenia assumed the role of Vice President of Risk and Global Card Member Remittance Technology, where she was responsible for mission-critical platforms such as Credit Authorizations, Card Member Remittances, Fraud, New Accounts, Customer Information, and Collections across all business units, with a specific focus to transform these functions and platforms to accelerate the company’s digital strategy. In 2013, she assumed the role of Vice President of the Delivery Transformation Program. In this role, Licenia was responsible for establishing a new, best-in-class technology delivery model for American Express that focused on increasing productivity and speed to market, and reducing costs in order to enable further innovation across all products. She assumed her current responsibilities in January 2016.
Licenia serves as the Global Development Committee Chair for the company’s Women in Technology network and Steering Committee Member for the Year Up partnership at American Express. Licenia is also the Senior Technology Leader for American Express in South Florida and is a member of the South Florida Senior Leadership Team, which spans all business units operating in the region. Licenia also leads a team of local leaders who are to driving a culture across the campus that is focused on a growth mindset, collaboration, and innovation.
Licenia holds a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems from Barry University (Miami Shores, FL). She and her husband, Tony, live in Miami with their three children.
