Susan BaidaDirector, UPMC Center for Engagement and Inclusion
Susan Baida, Director for UPMC’s Center for Engagement and Inclusion, has a track record over her 20+ year career of positively impacting diverse and underrepresented communities. In her current role, Susan is responsible for developing and implementing UPMC’s systemwide diversity and inclusion strategy to address the needs of patients, health plan members, employees and the community. She leads her team in developing new initiatives including Gun Violence Prevention, Pre-Diabetes Prevention, and a new STEM program to expose elementary and middle school students to a broad spectrum of healthcare careers. Prior to joining UPMC, Susan co-founded a healthcare technology firm, eCareDiary, with the mission of addressing the needs of family caregivers in a fast-growing aging population. At eCareDiary, she gained valuable healthcare experience from the patient and family perspective and exposure to the health disparities that exist amongst diverse populations. Before that, she served in executive roles in global marketing for Fortune 500 companies such as Starwood Hotels and Estee Lauder Companies, leading expansion and business development strategies through the development of culturally-relevant products and services to increase sales, market share and brand relevance in global markets. Susan graduated from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia and holds a Diversity Leadership certification as well as a Strategic Human Resources Business Partner certification. She serves on the Board of Directors as Finance Committee Chair for Casa San Jose, a nonprofit serving the Latino immigrant community in Pittsburgh, and Allegheny County’s 2020 Census Commission. She is fluent in Spanish.
