From interning at a legal office that helped migrants and refugees seeking residency to opening a private practice that represented victims of abuse, Representative Ina Minjarez has fought for Texas’s families throughout her career as an attorney. When she won a special election for her seat in 2015, with only a month left in the legislative session, Rep. Minjarez committed to using her time in office to continue fighting for women and children across Texas. By the end of her first full session, she was named Texas Monthly’s “Rookie of the Year” for her methodical approach and substantive amendments she proposed. As part of her legislative career, Rep. In 2013, Irma L. Olguin Jr. decided to build a company focused on strengthening the tech industry in Fresno, Calif. and leveraging it as the economic driver to remake the city. In 2019, the company secured one of the largest series A rounds of funding ever for a female Latinx-led company. Bitwise Industries now operates with the goal of activating human potential for the technology industry in underdog cities across the United States. As CEO and co-founder, Irma oversees the company’s operations teams, as well as the tech-focused training program of Bitwise Workforce Training, and software development for Bitwise Technology Consulting. A main component of her role is ensuring the company’s fidelity to mission, strategy, and long-term goals. Previously, Irma created 59DaysOfCode, a software development competition to highlight and encourage the Central Valley’s tech industry. She co-founded Hashtag, an open workspace for designers, developers, and entrepreneurs to collaborate. And, she co-founded Edit LLC to solve efficiency and data issues in the agricultural industry.
Julio Pimentel is a fourth-year Ph.D. candidate in Cancer Biology of the Barabara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute (KCI) at the Wayne State University School of Medicine (WSUSOM). His research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of immune evasion, drug resistance, and deregulated cell death pathways to develop novel strategies that target therapy refractory cancers. Some of his previous contributions to the field include the investigation of TRAIL, Imatinib, and Gemcitabine resistance in triple-negative breast cancer, gastrointestinal stromal tumors, and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, respectively. Julio completed his undergraduate studies at the California State University Stanislaus and received a master’s degree at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He is funded by the WSUSOM Dean’s Diversity Fellowship and the NIH Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award T32- CA009531. Julio inherently understands the critical need for diversity and inclusion in the STEM workforce. He has contributed significantly to empowering low-income and first-generation students to pursue and complete advanced training in STEM at post-secondary institutions. Thus, he engages and educates students from under-resourced schools about his research by attending multiple venues (e.g. SACNAS and ABRCMS) and through the WSUSOM/KCI FocuSSTEM NextGen Program. Julio’s altruism stems from being a first-generation college student. His parents are Mexican immigrants who have limited English proficiency and an educational attainment that is less than that of a high school diploma. Therefore, he aspires to help students who have surmounted challenges to attain an education, and that come from a similar background like his own.
Dr. Karla H. DeCuir is the Senior Director of Enrollment Management and External Affairs at University of Houston-Victoria (UHV) in Katy. She joined UHV in 2017 to oversee the recruiting efforts, external relations, and strategic partnerships for UHV Katy. Karla is the founder and President of Student Guidance Group, a non-profit organization focused on providing career guidance, mentorship, and professional skills development to high school students. Her background includes 17 years of business development, management, marketing, and external affairs. Born in Guatemala City and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, Karla began her professional career working for Nextel Communications assisting corporate franchises with business development ventures. In 2007, she joined University of Phoenix where she held various roles including enrollment management and external relations for the Houston market. Dean Leticia M. Diaz is a founding faculty member of Barry University School of Law and she began her tenure as dean in 2007. Since her appointment as dean, the law school has featured nationally recognized Moot Court and Trial Team Programs. As the first female Cuban-American to hold the position of dean at an ABA-accredited law school, she serves as an advocate for a diverse student and faculty population. Under her leadership, Barry Law School’s minority student enrollment has increased substantially. Barry Law received recognition for diversity from several national publications. PreLaw Magazine identified Barry Law as one of the best law schools in the nation for African American and Hispanic students. Ligia Noemi Cushman M.A. is the daughter of immigrants from La Republica Dominicana, one of eight children, and mother of one son through adoption. In her award-winning book, Heard: How Loss Led Us to Love, Ligia gives a glimpse into the night her son was born, and the many hard lessons she and her husband faced along the way. She started her professional experience working as a civilian Logistician for the United States Army and began her Ford career in 1993. She has manufacturing experience in the powertrain and stamping divisions and has held several key management positions within Manufacturing. Liliana has a passion for the human side of Lean. Luis Santos has a unique understanding of the administrative and legal challenges faced by clients in industries like hospitality, retail, restaurant, and grocery. Charlotte is his 13th posting over 4 states and the District of Columbia. A native of Costa Rica in Central America, he was raised in the Charlotte N.C. area. Mr. Lobo received a double major in economics and business administration in 1983 from Belmont Abbey College in the Charlotte area. He earned an MBA from Campbell University at Buies Creeks, North Carolina; and received his degree with honors from the ABA Stonier Graduate School of Banking at the University of Delaware in 1998. He graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in the Advanced Management Program in 1999. Mr. Lobo’s over 35 year career has involved most facets of commercial, retail, and international banking. Myriam serves as Vice President, Diversity & Inclusion Programs at Nielsen. In her role, Myriam educates, inspires, influences and empowers associates to value and leverage Diversity & Inclusion as pivotal to business growth and innovation. Myriam is responsible for leading Nielsen's Employee Resource Groups in 80+ countries around the world. Prior to her appointment as VP, Diversity & Inclusion programs, Myriam led Nielsen's Hispanic Organization of Leaders in Action (HOLA) Employee Resource Group. HOLA's mission is to advance the careers and education opportunities of Hispanic professionals. During her tenure at Nielsen, Myriam has led transformational initiatives aimed at improving the quality of Nielsen's data by re-engineering operational tools, processes and driving a high-performance culture globally. Throughout her career, Myriam has led and deployed several programs and volunteering opportunities aimed at improving diversity, equity and inclusion in the organization and community. As a Diversity & Inclusion practitioner, Myriam has facilitated numerous webinars, conferences and workshops in North America, Latin America and Europe, where she has shared best practices in leading global D&I strategies, the role of D&I in driving business impact, women parity in the workplace, re-imaging Employee Resource Groups among other topics. Neddy Perez serves as chief global diversity & inclusion officer, at McCormick & Company. In her role, she is responsible for advancing the organization’s global strategy for inclusion and diversity and will work in partnership with HR business partners and other leaders. She is also part of the Global Talent Management Center of Excellence which has oversight for the company’s talent acquisition, development and learning programs. Prior to joining McCormick in 2018, Neddy served as head of Campus & Diversity Talent Acquisition at TIAA. She has also developed and led global inclusion and diversity initiatives in various industries, including the utilities, manufacturing, financial, and food service. Additionally, she has worked in Belgium, Netherlands, UK, Mexico, Chile, Brazil, China and India. Neddy served as Chief Diversity Officer for other Fortune 50 and 250 companies likes Ingersoll Rand, National Grid, and KPMG. Neddy is a very active civic leader who serves on the Board of Directors for Diversity MBA Magazine, Diversity in Higher Education Magazine and on the Talent Acquisition Advisory Board of the Asia Society. In the past, she has served on the Society of Human Resources Management’s Foundation board, the Center for Accounting Excellence Advisory Board at Howard University, Central Piedmont Community College in North Carolina board. In the manufacturing space she has served on the National Association of Manufacturing Institute Foundation and Ingersoll Rand Foundation boards. She also served on the National Utilities Diversity Council Board as Vice Chair. Neddy is also co-founder of STEMConnector.org which focuses on raising awareness about careers in STEM and serves as an information resource to corporations, educational institutes and nonprofits as well a government agencies. Born in Havana, Cuba she immigrated to the U.S. at an early age and grew up in the Midwest as well as South Florida. She strongly believes that access to education and educational resources is an enabler to creating equity personal and professional equity. Neddy has a Bachelor’s in Public Relations from the University of Florida and a Master’s in Human Resources Management and International Business from Nova Southeastern University. In 2015 she was recognized as one of the Top Corporate Hispanic Executives in the U.S. and in 2014 was recognized as one of the top Global Chief Diversity Officers by her peers.
Noe Del Bosque has a unique understanding of hospitals' healthcare challenges with building infrastructure, medical equipment, labor force, and hospitality. Noe has held several leadership roles in healthcare ranging from a manager, director, and vice president. Today, Noe is the Director of Plant Operations with UT Health East Texas. Noe is also a Fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and currently serves as a contributing member of the local East Texas ACHE Chapter Education Committee. Noe is fluent in reading and writing in Spanish. He often uses his bilingual skills to train and educate Hispanic staff in their native language. Noe also serves as an active member of the UT Health East Texas Diversity Council. Noe is the first in his family to attend college. Through his childhood experiences, Noe developed an appreciation for hard work and an understanding of the importance of education. Noe earned a Master's in Business Administration with an emphasis in Healthcare Management. Noe was born and raised in McAllen, Texas. Noe is married to his wife of 32 years, Cindy Del Bosque. Together, Noe and Cindy have four children--- Victoria, Miranda, Noah, and Nicholas; and two grandchildren--- Mikayla and Nathan.
Pablo Zurzolo is a seasoned marketing leader with a 25 year career in technology marketing. He has served as Vice President, Americas Marketing at Tech Data since 2015. In this role, he leads Tech Data Agency, an in-house team of more than 120 marketing professionals across the U.S, Canada and Latin America. Pablo’s team is responsible for designing and implementing demand generation, enablement, training and incentive marketing activities for more than 200 leading technology vendors including Apple, Cisco, IBM and HP Inc. In 2020, he was named a Channel Chief by CRN magazine. Prior to his leadership role at Tech Data, Pablo served as Chief Marketing Officer at Steelyard, as the Marketing Automation Practice Leader for Astadia Consulting, and as an independent consultant specializing in channel strategy and development. He holds bachelor’s degrees in Economics and International Relations from The American University in Washington, DC and an M.B.A. from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management. A native of Buenos Aires, Argentina, Pablo currently resides with his husband in Tampa, Florida and proudly represents Latino and LGBTQ+ interests in his community.
A graduate of the Rutgers University School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Fuentes practiced clinical dentistry for 15 years. He owned and operated five multi-specialty dental offices in urban areas of New Jersey. He spent his clinical career providing access to dental care primarily for the Medicaid population. He completed his undergraduate studies at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, where he worked as a course instructor and as a member of the alumni admissions board. As the Chief Dental Officer for LIBERTY Dental Plan, he oversees the dental care management of over 5 million Medicaid and Medicare recipients throughout the county. Dr. Fuentes has been a thought leader in the adaptation of Teledentistry. He has been instrumental in developing programs utilizing Teledentistry for emergency use, outreach, member engagement and providing additional points of clinical access for rural populations. His many accomplishments have been recognized in New Jersey Monthly Magazine, Consumer Research Council of America, and Latino American Who’s Who as a top Dentist. He currently chairs LIBERTY Dental Plan’s Clinical Advisory Board which consists of esteemed dental professionals across the country. Additionally, he was honored by Integrity House of New Jersey as the Gala Honoree for his work with addiction recovery in narcotics and the role the dental field plays. Dr. Fuentes is an avid football fan and when not at MetLife Stadium cheering on the Giants, he can be found coaching his son’s flag football team or daughter’s softball team.
